Birthright

Birthright understands the challenges related to unplanned pregnancies and is available to women for as long as they need us. We offer love, friendship, and support to women who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant.  Birthright is interdenominational and is not involved in any political activities, or lobbying. Birthright’s focus is on loving the mother, reminding her that there is hope and ensuring she is not alone.

Provides homelessness prevention and diversion aid, as well as emergency and temporary housing, to people who are experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness. 

Department of public Welfare

DPW is dedicated to helping low-income families become independent while they receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits. TANF also goes by the name cash assistance and provides money that can be used at any local food bank or social service agency in your area, as well as on basic needs such healthcare prescriptions/coverage; housing search programs like Section 8 vouchers which help cover rent costs when you find an apartment with no landlord contribution among other things. 

Women, Infants, and Children--W.I.C.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) has improved the nutrition and health of families in Pennsylvania since 1974 by providing nutrition services, breastfeeding support, health care and social service referrals, and healthy foods. Through WIC, pregnant women, mothers, and caregivers of infants and young children learn about good nutrition to keep themselves and their families healthy! 

Department of Human Service--child abuse complaints

We operate Philadelphia’s child abuse hotline, investigate allegations of child abuse and neglect, and help children involved with DHS achieve a permanent home. We manage the private organizations (Community Umbrella Agencies) that provide case management and other support services in 10 geographic regions throughout Philadelphia. 

Sexual Violence Hotline and Victim Response Services

Sexual violence includes sexual harassment, sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape, date rape, and incest. WOAR’s specially trained Hotline Crisis Counselors provide support, information, answer questions, provide referral guidance to the right services and coordinate counseling services.  If you are in crisis and experiencing an emergency, please call 911 immediately.

PAL is a youth development organization offering educational, athletic, recreational, character-building, and cultural programs to Philadelphia’s youth, ages 6-18. All PAL programs are fun, safe, and FREE.

PHA supplies safe and decent affordable housing to low-income residents in Philadelphia. We offer two main housing programs options: Public Housing, and the Housing Choice Voucher Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). 

The Basic Systems Repair Program

The Basic Systems Repair Program (BSRP) provides free repairs to correct electrical, plumbing, heating, limited structural and carpentry, and roofing emergencies in eligible owner-occupied homes in Philadelphia. 

The Heater Hotline

The Heater Hotline provides free emergency heater repairs for eligible households. If the Heater Hotline staff determine that your heater needs to be replaced, they will forward your application to BSRP
